Buck's Smoked Chicken Breasts
I saw something interesting at a Subway last week.
My son and I were grabbing a bite while traveling. After we finished eating, I walked over to throw away my trash.
There it was. One of those fancy recycling stations. Two separate holes. One for recycling, one for trash. Nice little green symbols telling you exactly where everything goes.
I stood there like a good citizen, sorting my napkins from my cup, feeling pretty good about doing my part.
Then I noticed the drawer underneath was slightly open.
Then I saw this.

I'm standing there looking at this thing, and my son walks up. I point at it and say, "You seeing this?"
He laughed. Then he told me a short story.
When he worked at KFC back in high school, they had separate bins for different types of trash. Paper in one. Plastic in another. Food waste in a third. The whole nine yards.
But at the end of every shift, management would make them throw it all into one big container out back.
All that sorting. Completely pointless.
I thought maybe KFC was just cutting corners. Then I ran into my buddy's daughter a few days later. She used to work at Chick-fil-A.
Same damn thing.
So let me get this straight. These billion-dollar companies put out these fancy recycling stations. They make customers feel all warm and fuzzy about "doing their part." Meanwhile, it all ends up in the same pile of garbage anyway.
What in the hell is the point?
Is this just for show? Some kind of corporate theater to make us feel better while nothing actually gets recycled?
I'm genuinely asking because I don't understand it.
What do you think about all this recycling nonsense? Am I missing something here?
Enjoy your Sunday.
