McDonald's is robbing us and I have the evidence to prove it.

When I was a young man, the fish filet was my sandwich.

Cheeseburgers were for the kids. The fish filet was my meal.

Big, square, hot, and cheesy.

I hadn't had one in years. So last week, I ordered one for old time's sake.

When the girl handed me that bag, it was so light I thought she forgot the sandwich.

I opened it up and said to myself “Self, what in the hell is this?”

So I marched right up to the counter.

I asked for the manager. Nice young fella. I told him, "Son, this fish filet has shrunk."

He assured me it hadn't. Said it's the same size it's always been.

I said, "I've been eating these since before your parents met. I know what a fish filet is supposed to look like. I assure you young man, this ain't it."

He just kept repeating that nothing had changed. Like a hostage reading a script.

So I did what any reasonable man would do.

First I told the young man that I can get bigger burgers than this at White Castle.

Then I took my sad little sandwich home, and I did a very small experiment.

Folks, the damn egg is almost bigger than the sandwich!

Now here's the thing. Cheeseburgers were always small. That was fine. It was cheap. You knew the deal.

But the fish filet used to be a SANDWICH. Now I'm paying premium fish sandwich prices for something no bigger than an egg.

My wife walked in while I was arranging my evidence like a crime scene photographer.

She looked at the sandwich, looked at me, and said, "Buck, you have literally made a big deal out of the smallest thing."

But you know what she didn't say?

She didn't say I was wrong 🙂

I'm counting that as a win. Lord knows I don't get many.

Have you noticed this? Are your favorite sandwiches shrinking while the prices grow? Or am I just being grumpy as usual?

To answer my own question, I’d say both.

Enjoy your Sunday!
