Restaurants are just not the same anymore.
Last Sunday, my wife and I got a craving for a burger and a Frosty.
So we headed to Wendy's for a little date. Nothing fancy. Just two old lovebirds and some fast food.
We got our order and went to sit down.
That's when the date ended.
When I was younger, Wendy's had those big soft comfortable booths. You could sink in, take your time, and enjoy your meal like a human being.
Now? Take a look at this.

Hard fake wood. Not one cushion to be found. Chairs designed by someone who clearly hates the human spine.
I've spent a little time in county jail, y'all. I'm not proud of it. But I can tell you the prison visitation room had better seating than this Wendy's.
At least in visitation, they want you to stay a while.
My wife and I ate that meal faster than a dog on a steak. My back hurt before I finished my Frosty.
Here's what I think is going on.
These fast food places don't want you eating inside anymore. COVID taught them the drive-thru model is cheaper. Less cleaning, less staff, less everything.
They learned to run lean, and they never looked back. A lot of businesses are like that now. COVID changed their model and it just stayed changed.
So they make the dining room about as inviting as an alley at 2 am. And it works. People grab their food and go.
Well, message received, Wendy's. I won't be back.
I don't even know why I went in the first place. According to my wife, I make one of the best burgers around.
And that woman does NOT hand out compliments. So it must be true.
Have you noticed this at fast food places? Are the dining rooms getting worse on purpose, or am I just getting soft in my old age?
Enjoy your Sunday!
