Get a degree or learn a trade?

Recently, a young man I know was asking me for advice. 

He was wondering if he should go back for his sophomore year of college or stop and become an electrician.

He was asking cause he sees some of his high school buddies already making money while he is at college, racking up debt.

It made me think of a post I saw not too long ago. 

When you look at this image, it’s easy to think that the electrician is winning. 

However, if you look closely, they both seem unhappy to me. 

I got a lot of friends who made money in the trades. But that work was brutal on their bodies. 

Most of them are in some sort of perpetual pain nowadays as a result. 

I know many guys who got a degree and made money. 

However, some of them had to pay off debt well into their adult life.

When it comes to getting a degree or learning a trade, I think it just depends.

You can be happy either way. You can be miserable either way. 

It comes down to what you have a talent for. 

Some people are great with their hands. Others are better when they are in front of a computer. 

If someone asked you if they should go to college or learn a trade, what would you say?
