Bald Buck - Chicken Piccata
My friend is in soul-crushing debt, and I couldn’t be happier for him.
I invited a buddy to come stay at my place last weekend.
On a chilly Saturday evening, we sat around an outdoor fire, shared some whiskey, and chatted.
That’s when I told him the real reason I invited him. The reason was that I was worried about him and sensed something was off.
He Started Crying Uncontrollably
We have been friends for 20 years, and this was the first time I’d seen him this emotional.
He then told me he was in serious debt.
It didn’t make sense to me. Of all my friends, he seemed like the most financially responsible.
I asked him how it happened.
He then told me that for the last year, he was sure he was going to take his life.
So he started living like it was his last year on earth.
He stopped paying bills and racked up major credit card debt.
He chose not to do it (thank God), but now he’s in a tough financial spot.
He eventually joked that not only was it a bad idea, but now he has to pay interest on it.
We talked through everything in detail that night.
I wanted him to have a safe space to share whatever he needed, and I also needed to be sure he wasn’t still thinking about going through with it.
Before we went to bed that night, I told him I never thought I’d be this happy about someone having major debt.
I’d rather have a buddy alive and in debt than not alive with 0 debt.
What do you think about all this? I’d love to know.
Enjoy your Sunday!

My wife has a widowed friend. She came over last week. She let us know that after a year of not dating anyone, she moved on. And BOY did she move on. Let's just say she's a little fast. I brought this article up to her. I told her the three date rule suggests waiting until the third date to become physically intimate. She said,
“Buck, I’m 63 and don't have time to waste. If I want a man, I may not wait 3 minutes.”
I said, “Well damn.”
Later that day, I told my wife’s friend about this article. It says recent studies suggest that cannabis may pose fewer health risks than alcohol, especially for individuals over 50. I asked her which one would she pick, Cannabis or alcohol? She said,
“Hell Buck, both…..at the same time.”
I said, “Well sh*t.”
Later that night, I brought this article up to my wife and her friend. During a flight, a passenger collapsed and died. The cabin crew was unable to relocate her body. So they placed the dead body in a seat next to a couple. I asked, “How would you feel if you had to sit next to a dead body?” My wife’s friend said,
“Buck, I don’t know. But I imagine this is how your wife feels anytime she goes anywhere with you.”
I laughed. Because depending on where my wife takes me, this is definitely true.
